All metal components must be galvanized; care must be taken to protect the galvanized layer during operation.
The needle tip should be made of galvanized steel pipe, with a wall thickness of not less than 3mm. The tin-coated length of the needle tip must not be less than 70mm.
3. Lightning protection towers should be installed vertically and securely. The allowable deviation for verticality is 3/1000.
Welding requirements: Welding should be done using lap welding, and the lap length must meet the following requirements:
For flat steel, it should be twice its width (with at least 3 edges welded).
For round steel, it should be 6 times its diameter.
When connecting round steel and flat steel, the length should be 6 times the diameter of the round steel.
Lightning protection towers are generally made of round steel or steel pipe, and their diameter should not be less than the following values:
Independent lightning protection towers generally use galvanized round steel with a diameter of 19mm.
Rooftop lightning protection towers use galvanized steel pipe with a diameter of 25mm.
Lightning protection towers on the top of water towers use galvanized steel pipe with a diameter of 25mm or 40mm.
The lightning protection tower on top of the chimney should be made of galvanized round steel with a diameter of 25mm or galvanized steel pipe with a diameter of 40mm. The lightning protection ring should be made of galvanized round steel with a diameter of 12mm or galvanized flat steel with a cross-section of 100mm and a thickness of 4mm.
The lightning protection tower should preferably be made of round steel or welded steel pipe, and its diameter should not be less than the following values: For needle lengths less than 1m: 12mm for round steel, 20mm for steel pipe; for needle lengths of 1-2m: 16mm for round steel, 25mm for steel pipe; for needles on top of chimneys: 20mm for round steel, 40mm for steel pipe.
