Upper-shaped: Shaped like the Chinese character "上" (up), with triangular conductor arrangements, this type of tower is commonly used for short-distance power transmission in my country, particularly for power lines at voltage levels of 110kV and below.
Cat-head type: Resembling a cat's head, this is a type of high-voltage straight-line transmission tower with isosceles triangular conductor arrangements. Commonly used for long-distance and high-voltage transmission.
Wine glass type: Shaped like a wine glass, this is a close relative of the cat-head tower. With horizontal conductor arrangements, it is commonly used for straight-line towers and load-bearing towers (tension, angle, or terminal towers), and is frequently used for long-distance and high-voltage transmission.
Dry-shaped: Named for its resemblance to the Chinese character "干" (dry), this tower features triangular conductor arrangements and is used as a load-bearing tower. Commonly used for medium- to short-distance transmission at voltage levels of 220kV and above, it boasts a simple structure and good economic efficiency.
Portal-type: A tower using two columns to support the conductors and overhead ground wires. The conductors are arranged horizontally, resembling a large "gate" character, and is used as a terminal tower.
Horn-shaped tower: Resembling ram's horns, with conductors arranged in a triangular pattern, it is used as an angle tower or terminal tower.
Drum-shaped tower: The connecting wires at the tower head resemble a drum. It is used as a straight-line tower or load-bearing tower, mainly in medium-distance, high-voltage transmission scenarios, capable of simultaneously transmitting multiple transmission lines.
The design of power tower shapes must consider principles such as stability, height, economy, and efficient power transmission. The Ali-Central Tibet power grid interconnection project in Tibet features landscape towers designed with the images of the distinctive Tibetan goat, the Gamba goat, and the Rutog white cashmere goat; Yecheng County in Xinjiang has a "Mother and Child Tower"; and Jinan in Shandong has a goblet-shaped power tower.
