Electric transmission towers, also known as power transmission towers, are a type of power transmission pole and an important component of power transmission lines. They support and suspend power lines, ensuring the safe and reliable transmission of electricity. Transmission poles include two main categories: reinforced concrete poles and electric towers. In my country's existing power transmission line projects, electric tower structures are commonly used for lines with voltage levels of 110kV or higher, while reinforced concrete pole structures are typically used for lines with voltage levels not exceeding 66kV. The applicable scenarios for electric towers are closely related to the line voltage level, terrain conditions, and load requirements. They are used in flat, hilly, mountainous, and long-span crossing scenarios (such as across large rivers), and the optimal structural type must be selected through economic and technical comparisons.
Currently, the world's tallest electric transmission tower is the transmission tower of the Fengcheng-Meili 500kV Yangtze River Crossing Project. This project features two 385-meter ultra-high transmission towers with a span of 2550 meters across the river, making it the largest and most technically challenging cross-river interconnection power transmission and transformation project in my country's power construction history.
